Marleen Jonkman graduated from the Dutch Film Academy as a rising star with her prize-winning short ‘Daughter’. She quickly began directing commercials, fiction and video clips.

Marleen’s mission is to celebrate life in all its aspects, to show the universal truth of the everyday through authentic and joy-filled cinematic moments. She has mastered the art of the commercial: filling 50 seconds with what feels like a full film’s worth of sentimentality and emotion.
Her feature debut La Holandesa premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was nominated for Best Film and Best Actress at the Dutch Film Festival. Marleen is now juggling working on her next feature with being one of the most in demand directors of the moment.
